Learning Opportunities

In addition to ministry-specific training, Elmbrook offers a number of learning opportunities intended to help leaders succeed. Watch the calendar at right for dates.


 Residency: A one-year, part-time, paid position supported through fundraising. During a resident's time on the Elmbrook staff, they receive practical hands-on ministry experience, theological instruction, and leadership training — all in the context of a large, growing church.

Foundations of Teaching:   In this practical class, we will learn key principles about putting a talk, lesson, or a mini-sermon together.

Intro to People Helping Skills for Crisis, Trauma, and Grief:   Robin Knoll will be providing insights to help others who are struggling with grief and working through trauma.

Facilitating Support Groups Class:   As chaplains, the need to jump in and lead a support group can arise at any time. In this practical, hands-on workshop we will learn the dynamics of a leading and facilitating a support group. Support groups have similarities to small group Bible studies but have their own unique qualities.

Join us as we dig into how we can lead differently for these groups.
