8th Grade Ascent

About the Event

Life is like a journey up a mountain. It’s filled with challenges and surprises, twists and turns. A team effort helps each climber reach the pinnacle. And oh, what a view!

But in the midst of the climb, we can get discouraged. How much further? Have I even made progress? Do I have what it takes to succeed? Am I on the right track?

This Elmbrook Church Faith Milestone – The Ascent – is for graduating Eighth Grade students to pause halfway up their personal journey of adolescence. It serves as a “base camp” of sorts. We will look back on how far we’ve come. We’ll anticipate the tricky paths before us. And we’ll prepare for an ascent worth climbing.

Parents: Please send Mark McCutcheon the email addresses of 2-5 adults who have been influential in the faith journey of your student. Please send these to him by Monday, May 13th. You can email Mark at mmccutcheon@elmbrook.org

We will hike together at Lapham Peak, have facilitated conversations about their personal past and future ascents, and receive a meaningful gift. Along the way, students will read their adults’ letters. At the end of the hike, parents will join the group for a final teaching and challenge.

Please join us for The Ascent!

The event will take place at Lapham Peak State Park, from 12:30- 2:30pm.
