The Logic of Grace and Peace: Making Sense of Paul's Life and Letters.
This is a crash course on Paul. It will be intense and eye-opening, and it will challenge you to drink more deeply from the riches of the Scriptures and from Paul's gospel of grace and peace. On Friday night you will be reintroduced to Paul and learn to stand in his shoes and see the world from his perspective. You’ll also get a glimpse at how the gospel transforms not only Paul’s theology but even the way he goes about writing letters. And since the Scripture itself tells us that Paul’s letters can be difficult to understand (2 Peter 3:16), our Saturday morning session will involve a Bible lab devoted to learning how to untangle the sometimes complex logic of Paul’s arguments. We’ll round out the weekend by taking two fresh looks at Paul’s gospel and its implications for life and ministry. The class is taught by Dr. J.D. Atkins and is part of the 30-week Elmbrook Theology course for residents, leaders, and chaplains. A pre-course reading assignment will be sent at the time of registration. Reading should take 2-3 hours to complete.
This class will be held in Fellowship Hall
Schedule: Friday 6-9pm; Saturday 9- 2:30pm
Cost is $25 and covers snacks and lunch.
