QPR Suicide Prevention Training

Many of us know someone who has been impacted by suicidal thoughts, and you may not feel prepared to help. Join us for a 90-minute training known as QPR to help equip you.

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is a suicide prevention training that educates about the myths of suicide and how to get a person at risk of suicide the help they need. After attending, participants will be able to:

  • identify warning signs of suicide
  • identify direct, indirect, and behavioral communication of suicidal ideation
  • identify methods to persuade individual away from suicidal thoughts
  • identify resources for appropriate intervention
About the Speaker

Barbara Brown, PT has been a Physical Therapist with Ascension for 36 years. During her career, she has been involved in management as well as the treatment of orthopedic and vestibular patients. Barb has experienced the devastation of suicide first-hand as she lost her beloved son, David, in 2018. Because of her desire to help others, she has been trained to provide community education for suicide prevention, QPR, and has been certified as a Grief Recovery Method Specialist.
