Take Me to the Movies: Hollywood Worldviews Class

Adult Learning

Through many generations, it has always been the storytellers who have shaped the culture the most. Who are today’s principal storytellers? Who has the most widespread connection to our society along with each age group? It isn’t the latest novelists, songwriters, nor philosophers, but filmmakers that hold that position. Movies have always been more than mere entertainment; they have tremendous power to stir, upset, shape, inspire wonder, change our minds, and win the imagination. And film conveys and invites us into its worldview. Since watching films is the language of our age, the thoughtful Christian is invited to consider the ideas they portray, to contemplate and have a conversation together over both classic and contemporary films. Consider it a unique kind of film festival and film class integrating Christian themes all rolled into one.

This is a 4-week class taught by Bob Wolniak. We'll explore: Concerning Worldviews and Film The Human Condition Mind and Knowledge The Moral Life Faith and Religion.
