Our Leadership

At every Elmbrook campus, our elders and pastors are here for one reason: to help you take your next step toward Jesus.

The Council of Elders is the governing body of Elmbrook Church, constitutionally tasked with oversight of the ministries of our church. Biblically, elders are given the responsibility of caring for and shepherding the congregants of Elmbrook Church.

Prayer (Acts 6:1-7)

Elders are intentionally and persistently involved in prayer with and for the congregation.

Preaching and Teaching  (Acts 6:1-7)

Elders must grow in their knowledge of the Word, live under its authority, and share the truth of scripture with others.

Elders must preach and teach Scripture as the Holy Spirit leads, engaging opportunities to teach by leading small groups, one-on-one discipling, from the platform and in the marketplace.

Policy (Acts 15:19-22)

Elders continually review, evaluate and set direction for the church. It is the responsibility of the elder team to effectively communicate the vision to the church at large.

Protection (Acts 20:28-31)

Elders protect the church doctrinally, spiritually, relationally, and fiscally while appropriately delegating operational responsibilities to the Senior Leadership Team and staff.  . Elders make every effort to maintain unity (Eph. 4:3) when dealing with difficult and divisive issues.

Pastoral Care (Acts 6:1-7, 20:28)

Elders work with the care ministry as needed to provide pastoral care (shepherding) to congregants who are in need (i.e. ill, shut-in, and grieving).

Elders ensure that the sheep (congregants) are (spiritually?) fed and protected as they move through life cycles, from teaching children, guiding youth, walking alongside young adults, sharing with families, modeling care for the elderly, beckoning the spiritually inactive and loving our congregation and community in real and tangible ways.  Elders lead by example wherever possible in the “ministry of presence.”
